Quick Reference Guide

There is a lot of information spread across this wiki, and it's helpful to have all the key information you need when playing the game linked in one place. Mistakes can happen, but here are the key details of what you need to know, or where the information is that you want to find.

  1. If you need help at any point in the game, you can type the command “/get_help [your query]” and the Crew will be notified.
  2. Messages sent *like this* will appear in italics, and are used to narrate your character's actions.
  3. Messages sent [in square brackets] are used for OC comments, such as safety calls, or questions OC that you have.
  4. Spoiler text is written ||like this||, and is used for content warnings, OC spoilers, or IC characters who have the relevant Sneakiness Effect acting sneakily.
  5. Each channel describes a location somewhere in Pencilvania, and threads in that channel describe sub-locations (such as different rooms of a building). You can only normally be in one location at once, although you are free to move between them.
  1. Your user page will have a reference of your Ability Effects, Cartoon Logics, and Writing Conventions. It will be helpful to keep this or some other list of your personal Mechanics open so you can quickly reference them.
  2. When you and another player want to do conflicting actions, you should (OC) agree on the stakes (what the loser won't be able to do), see if your Mechanics allow an automatic winner, and then if there is no automatic winner, one of you should run the command “/run_conflict [person1] [person2]“ to determine one randomly.
  3. When you want to interact with the environment and there is not a Crew or GM member already in your channel to adjudicate, you should run the command ”/get_help [your query]“ to request adjudication. It might take a moment to reply to this.
  4. Items can be purchased from NPCs or crafted. You should alert a GM when you want to craft one with the command ”/craft_request”, and keep a note of how many charges you have used.
  5. Injuries may be acquired during play, but usually only last for that Scene (you don't have the Injury in other channels, and they are completely removed when the next “Scene” message happens in that channel). However, lasting Injuries last until they are healed, or until the end of the session, whichever comes first.
  6. Scenes are used to track the progress of time, but their main purpose is for controlling Mechanics and Injuries. They are not intended to restrict roleplay - you shouldn't interrupt what you're doing just because a “Scene” message has appeared!
